Administering physical control over who has access to your building or facility is an important part of ensuring security. Door Access control systems play a very critical role in your overall security apparatus. They are a fast and efficient way to authenticate the identity of each individual as they go in and come out of a building. Providing businesses with an efficient way to secure points of ingress and egress to their facilities.

Even though cybersecurity threats have added another layer to the security space, it is still just as important to make sure your physical security is flawless as well.

A facility without a Door Access control system has two options. The first option is they don’t authenticate identity, and everyone is free to go in and outside of your facility. This is obviously very insecure and is not recommended at all. The second option is that the building security uses a human guard to check everyone’s identifications. This option has even more problems; first, this way to I.D people coming in and going out is inefficient. It takes more time to personally check each I.D, so for a building that has a lot of traffic, this would mean really long queues. Another problem with using human eyes to authenticate I.D is that it is really hard for humans to tell difference between a legitimate ID badge and a forged one. So, if a malicious actor does want to bypass this, they can easily do so with a good forgery.

The door Access Control system, on the other hand, checks and verifies each I.D against its own database. This way, a forged identification is almost immediately caught. And since this identification and verification process is all done electronically, it is also very quick. This makes sure the building traffic remains uninterrupted.

Door Access Control also allows building security to compartmentalize building access and security. What that means is, that by setting up different permissions for different people, it can be made sure that everyone is only allowed into spaces where they ought to be. For example, a person working in accounting has only access to the offices relevant to his job description. This further makes sure that even if security is how comprised, there are further layers of redundancy to make it harder to breach sensitive spaces.

Door Access Control systems use a range of different technologies in synergy to monitor, authenticate and allow access into a building. These can include using smart cards or magnetic stripe cards that need you to need to physically punch in every time you enter the building. This allows the system to process and verify your identity in seconds. If there is a problem, security is immediately alerted.

In other cases, it is more convenient to use an electronic keypad that requires Personal Identification Numbers or PIN codes to enter. Keypads are handy for places where it would be inefficient to issue new cards regularly.

There are also options to add a further layer of redundancy to the Door Access Control system by incorporating a human-centric approach. In this case, a human operator uses an intercom system to ask for further verification. They can use their remote door lock to restrict or allow access.

Here at Parsecurity, we offer a diverse range of Door Access Control Systems that won’t break your bank and provide you with state-of-the-art technology. One of the most important things for us at Parsecurity is that we make sure the new security systems are convenient for all the people involved. Because we understand the biggest risk to any secure facility is the human element. By making sure our tools are convenient and don’t come in the way of regular operations, we can be assured that these systems are used as intended.

Parsecurity has solutions for both large and small businesses. For large facilities, we can set up access control and authentication data on a network personal computer or a dedicated server. For smaller businesses that don’t require such complex systems, a compact solution is also available where all the control data is stored on the keypad or the reader itself.

Not securing your facilities is no longer an option, it is an oversight. An oversight that can have grave consequences.
